Second grade has been challenged by Mrs. Brock to create ziplines for the newest zipline park here in Georgia. Students have to make models of ziplines that are safe, meet a time requirement, and land in the same spot every time used. For this engineering project we are focusing on using the engineering design process to help us learn about motion, force, and gravity. Stay tuned to witness the results.
One of the first grade Science standards requires students to know and use appropriate weather tools. During our unit we made a thermometer, rain gauge, and wind vane. As Meteorologist in the making, we discussed the purpose for each tool and proper use.
The CEO of the "Push and Pull Toy Company" wrote our Kindergarten students a letter and asked them for help. "Mr. Pushell" explained that it is much harder as an adult to create new toy designs then it is as a child. He asked if EJES Kindergarten students would please create some new toy designs. The one requirement he had for the designs, were they needed to either be classified as a push toy, pull toy, or both. Check back for an update on the creative toy designs.
